What - Evangelism through teaching EFL (English as a Foreign Language) using our popular Practically Speaking Business English curriculum which emphasizes the importance of building a trusting relationship and then sharing the gospel with our student friends. Hundreds of adults attend each of these events where they learn some English, learn that they are loved and learn how to begin a relationship with Jesus Christ.
This Business English course focuses on speaking practice and vocabulary expansion for business professionals, tourism workers, government workers, and university students with ambitions to work in business or professional fields where contact with colleagues and customers from the United States is expected.
Students are already speaking at the Intermediate or advanced level. Those who have not reached the Intermediate level should take advantage of our Practically Speaking Conversational English Course.
Where - The venue is usually on a university campus in a developing country of Central or South America, Central or Eastern Europe or Mexico in partnership with a local Baptist church or church planter. For the specific church partner and location, see the project schedule.
When - See the project schedule. This is typically a Saturday through Saturday (8-day) event, inclusive of travel.
How much* - Approximate Cost - $1,700 - $2,200 (includes airfare, ground transportation, materials, room and board, and insurance.) A non-refundable deposit of $500 will secure your place on this team. See the project schedule for the published cost of this mission.
Who - NO PREVIOUS TEACHING EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY. We need adult men and women who will be teachers and assistant teachers of Business English using curriculum developed specifically for this ministry. Experience in the business or professional world is helpful, but not required. Each teacher will need a valid U.S. passport. We will provide all the training and curriculum materials.
