2006 STARTS WITH A BANG! - We arrived in Managua on News Years Eve, and the city was erupting in fireworks everywhere.  Celebrating the coming new year with fireworks seemed to be the habit of almost every family.  However, the new year celebrations were nothing compared to the celebrations in Heaven over the more than 200 people that came to Christ during the month of January.  More than 600 heard the gospel message and it is a great privilege witness such a harvest.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE EVANGELISM - We held two separate two-week English language evangelism events in the capital city of Managua, Nicaragua.  The first two weeks of January found us at Libertad Baptist Church and the final two-weeks were at Hebron Baptist Church.  Fifteen volunteers from Texas and Louisiana ministered to more than five hundred students.  Students ranged in age from 14 to 60 years old. 137 of the English students said yes to Christ.  Twenty-five other adults responded to the gospel message during our Sunday Celebrations at the mid-point of each event.

FIRST EVER BUSINESS ENGLISH EVANGELISM EVENT - Our very first Business English evangelism event was held on the campus of the University Polytechnic of Nicaragua.  Six teachers hosted more than 80 students for five evening sessions.  After a week of English practice, which covered various business topics, we clearly presented the gospel message and incredibly, 60 of the students responded "yes" to Christ.

The university has already extended an invitation for us to return.  In the next weeks, we will return to Nicaragua to plan future ministries on the main campus and on the satellite campuses in other parts of the country.

Watch for news about our upcoming Missions Banquet!

CHILDREN'S HOME PROJECT NEWS - In October, we purchased the land on which the 40-bed building will be built.  We are still finalizing the building design and plan. Meanwhile, God has sent us some important resources in the form of a construction expert, an engineering firm owner, and experienced children’s home missionaries.  As money comes in for the project, we hope to start the actual construction soon.  While raising money for the new building, we are upgrading the existing buildings with paint, bunk beds, new roofing and other improvements that have immediate results for the children.

2005 WAS A BANNER YEAR! - We had an incredible 2005 with more people hearing the gospel and with more decisions for Christ than in any previous year of our ministry.  The popular, two-week, English language evangelism events in Belarus and Nicaragua were extremely successful in terms of evangelism.

Prison ministry took us across the country to the Carolina’s and Florida and across Texas.

One of the biggest surprises of the year was the launching of the Children’s Home project in Nicaragua.

2006 CALENDAR AVAILABLE - Our 2006 calendar is already filled with English language evangelism events, Business English evangelism events, prison ministry and the Children’s Home project.  We need lots of volunteers to staff all these projects with laborers.  We are praying for volunteers and finances to accomplish each one of these vital projects.

The most current schedule of projects for 2006-2007 is now available and can be found on our website at www.jodykennedy.com.

Where will God

lead you this year?  Will you say “yes”?

NEW DOORS OPENING - We have new opportunities in Argentina and in Colombia for our Conversational English evangelism and our Business English evangelism events.  In the next few weeks we will explore these possibilities by visiting Bogotá, Colombia and possibly Buenos Aires, Argentina to meet with university officials and pastors there.  We are already planning a team for Bogotá this summer.

PRAYER CLOSET – The most essential ingredient in any work is prayer – please remember us as you pray.  Pray for:

©      The children in El Crucero, Nicaragua and the Diaz family

©      The funding and staffing of the children’s home project

©      Financial support for our ministry

©      God’s wisdom in which invitations are accepted

©      God’s help in getting us back into Belarus this summer

©      God’s provision of laborers to fill up the many teams needed in 2006-2007

©      Our son Aaron as graduates from Texas A&M and prepares for entry into the Navy’s officer program

©      Our daughter Sara and her husband David as they seek God’s will regarding a move to Taiwan as missionaries.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT – Many people do not realize that a gift of only $10 or $20 per month makes a big difference in meeting the needs of our ministry.  We pledge to be led by God in how resources are used.  Please consider this ministry when you are making your giving decisions.

Several of the Jody Kennedy International family use automatic drafts or their online bill-pay services to support us.  We also accept credit card donations through our web site with Pay-Pal’s secure service.

WHAT ABOUT FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES & EVENTS?  - Check the calendar on our website often.  We are updating the mission opportunities schedule as dates and venues are established.

You may also contact Jody about speaking to your group about mission opportunities.

URGENT HELP IS NEEDED AT THE CHILDREN’S HOME - While we prepare for the construction of the new building, we need to remedy some of the existing buildings.  We need a team of 4 to 10 who can spend a week and put on a new roof or help seal the old one before the rainy season begins.  If you can join a group or put a group together, we will work with you to set a date that will fit your schedule.  Contact us right away.

WHAT IF I CANNOT GO, BUT WOULD LIKE TO DONATE MONEY OR SPONSOR SOMEONE TO GO? - Contact us by telephone, email, or letter.  All donations are tax-deductible*.  Jody Kennedy International and LOVEM International are non-profit charities.

SPONSOR A CHILD - Why not call on your family, your church group, your Bible class, or even your coworkers to sponsor one of the children at the children’s home in Nicaragua.  At the moment, Marling (age 4, pictured here) does not have a sponsor.  Go to our web site and take a look at these beautiful children who are in such desperate need.  We need you to make a monthly commitment to meeting the ongoing needs of these children.

CONTACT US – We need volunteers to fill the teams during the coming year.  Please telephone, write a letter, or email to be added to our newsletter distribution list, to volunteer for a team, or to make a donation.
