No Signs of Slowing Down
After
returning from a full January in Nicaragua, we thought February would
let us slow down a little while we finalized plans for the rest of
2006. It was not to be. A family tragedy, sudden
opportunities for ministry, and hurried preparations for more work in
Nicaragua did not leave any time for slowing down.
Kyle Moore
Goes Home to the Lord
Our 18-year
old nephew, Kyle, was born with a heart defect. As a newborn, he
underwent several surgeries (experimental at the time) and was the
longest living survivor of that surgical technique. On February
16, he suddenly collapsed and died while playing with friends in
Greenville, Texas. He was a fine, Christian young man and will be
greatly missed by both family and friends.
Doors Open in Bogotá,
Colombia
In March,
Jody made a quick trip to Bogotá with our friend Jim Selfridge to
investigate opportunities there. Three different English Language
Evangelism events are scheduled there for this summer.
While in Bogotá,
Jody and Jim met with the host pastors to nail down details for the
summer. In addition, Jody met with two universities about bringing
the Business English course to their campuses in 2007.
The most
exciting meeting was with the head of bi-lingual education in the Bogotá
school system. Their program calls for the 27,000 public school
teachers to have the opportunity to become bi-lingual (in
English). Our proposal is to help jump-start their program with
our two-week conversational English course. Can you imagine
evangelizing the public school teachers and having them take a new
relationship with Christ into their classrooms.
Children's
Home Project News
While at the
site of the children's home in March, Jody and Trisha marked off the
proposed building's "footprint" on the ground. Seeing it
staked-out and marked really brought home the reality of this
project. Jody has met with a wonderful engineer who is diligently
finalized the building plans. With these plans in hand, we should
be able to begin construction this summer.
Two
New Additions to the Children's Home Population
Lester
and Eleazar (11 and 12 year old brothers) have been brought into the
children's home family. They were reportedly begging on the
streets of a nearby town. When the Diaz family went to
investigate, they found that the boys were spending each night sleeping
in a tree. Apparently, the tree gave them some refuge from
animals, and abuse from other street toughs. There are now 39
children receiving care through the children's home.

Celebration Banquet - April 21
If
you haven't made your reservation yet, please let us know that you will
attend our first Celebration Banquet. It is not too late for your
RSVP.
We invite you to celebrate with us about how God is working around the
world. We will share how
God has thrown open new doors for taking the gospel to Eastern Europe,
Central America, South America and across the United States.
We
are introducing new ways for ordinary people like you to be involved in
kingdom work through our unique Practically Speaking events and through
the ministry to orphaned and abandoned children in Nicaragua.
We
hope you will bring guests who will be inspired and motivated to
discover how they might become involved with us in reaching people for
Christ.

Diamond
J Youth Ranch Student Mission
During spring break week, we took a group of students from Hulen
Street Baptist Church to work at the Diamond J Youth Ranch in Gustine,
Texas. The student pastor, Scott Parrish, saw to it that they all
put in a full day's work and then had plenty of rest and fun time in the
evening.
Diamond
J Youth Ranch is a new project started by our friends, Kenneth and Paula
Kavanagh. It will soon be home to troubled children and teens
where they will receive the Christian love and upbringing they need, all
in the setting of a working ranch.
2006
Calendar Available
Our 2006 calendar is already filled with English language evangelism
events, Business English evangelism events, prison ministry and the
Children’s Home project. We
need lots of volunteers to fill all these projects with laborers.
We’ve just updated our website (www.jodykennedy.com)
with the 2006-2007 schedule. We are praying for volunteers and
finances to accomplish these vital projects.
